Trauma
Children and adults experience trauma when events out of our control place us in danger. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), more than two thirds of children reported experiencing at least one traumatic event before they turn 16. Because of the impact on students related to Covid-19 and other major events within 2020, a large number of students returning to class this year will exhibit trauma-related behavior. The resources below provide more information about trauma and trauma-related behavior and provide evidence-based strategies to support youth and adults.
